It seems like it needs to be just a bit wider for, um, two-person activities.

A opposed to the entire concept of a skinny body contour bench in general?

Lol, I’m just looking for detail issues, we’re well past saving that design. (I’m doing code review and CD sets at work right now)

Is it Wedi?

Who thought this was a good idea? You’ll probably cut your legs up from the edges of the little tile transitioning to the “brick”. And I’d imagine that will drain really well too. :/

Not sure, but I hope not.

That sounds almost as fun as the framing plans I’m drawing today.

Question:
How difficult is it to replace those plastic shower pans with a tile floor yourself?
Is it worth just having a builder do it from the ground up in tile?

It’s pretty involved... I’d recommend a happy medium of a fiberglass floor pan (3'x3' or 5'x3'), and then tiled walls atop.
I mean, if you have money it’s worth doing what you want right the first time. But full mud pans ain’t cheap.

Gotcha.

There, I fixed it.

Luckily we’ve got ample doors and plenty of sprinklers (we could extinguish the sun) so no issues.

How come? I ask b/c we’re doing a bathroom reno right now, the shower base and curb are both Wedi...should I be worried?

Oh nononono. I’m just incredibly conservative when it comes to waterproofing things in homes... If you do it right, the wedi should be as good as anything.

Ah, good! Our tile guy is super meticulous: he made sure the cut lines make it difficult for water to seep out anywhere by design, then he sealed the shit out of everything. There wasn’t one single bubble when we water-tested it hehe

I’ve done a few shower pans. Fiberglass restricts you to the size of the pan but is otherwise OK. But if you want to do a tile floor, you’ll need build up a floor with mortar, which can be a bit of a challenge. However, google is your friend here. Go look around for easy shower pan kit and explore your options.
